In the public sector, ICT Governance is a requirement for the purposes of the Auditor General audits since the Cabinet issued a directive in 2013, entrusted to the Department of Public Service (DPSA) for implementation of ICT Governance.
We are perfectly positioned to assist public sector as well as private sector in advice and the implementation of ICT Governance principles. We have extensive experience in the implementation of ICT Governance in a public sector entity and was involved with the Auditor General.
According to research, there is generally a high failure rate of IT projects, despite various research projects by various researchers over the years. The research agree on the reasons for IT project failures.
We have experience in both PMBOK as well as Prince2 frameworks and from our experience prefer Prince2 for the following reason:
As certified Prince2 practitioners, we will assist our customers managing their ICT projects to achieve the expected results.
A Network Infrastructure includes all cabling, switching and LAN/WAN development needs to optimise the utilisation of technology. These include but are not limited to Cat 5/6 cabling needs, Fibre needs, connectivity, Firewall security and many more infrastructural design issues.
A network infrastructure rarely goes without a Server Infrastructure. We also have the capabilities to assess our customers' business needs and develop a "fit-for-purpose" server infrastructure which will optimally use the network infrastructure to achieve best results. A Server Infrastructure includes items like a Server/Client environment, LDAP or Active Directory authentication, Server Network services like DHCP, DNS, Exchange and many more. We have seen many organisations procuring infrastructure not "fit-for-purpose"; either too few licenses, or an desktop operating system which can not authenticate, etc., causing extra costs. To prevent such fruitless expenditure, we provide our customers with the proper advise on the best combination of a network and server environment.
Despite the easy and relative inexpensive registration of a domain name, many small and medium businesses still opt to use a Gmail email account. It is our experience that prospective clients don't take a business serious if it still uses a Gmail account. We therefore strongly advise on registering a domain name for our customers.
When our customers register a domain name through us, we will assist them in setting up their mailboxes and desktop application to download their emails.
Governance & Compliance
There are various IT Governance Frameworks, each with a different focus and approach. We aim to assess the environment and then propose / integrate to suit the environment best.
